TP348H is a columbium-and-tantalum stabilized stainless chromium-nickel
steel which offer as their main advantage an excellent resistance to
intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the
chromium carbide precipitation range from 800 to 1500°F (427 to 816°C).
TP348 has restricted cobalt and tantalum content for nuclear
applications.
TP348H has maximum use temperatures of 1500°F (816°C) for code applications as does TP304 stainless, whereas TP304L stainless is limited to 800°F (426°C).
The properties of TP348H stainless steel are similar to the properties of TP347, and according to ASTM A240 their chemical compositions are the same except for tantalum and cobalt contents.
Corrosion Resistance
TP348H stainless steel offers similar resistance to general, overall corrosion as the unstabilized chromium-nickel TP304 stainless steel.
TP348H stainless steel is used primarily in high temperature applications where high resistance to sensitization is essential, thereby preventing intergranular corrosion at lower temperatures.
TP348H stainless steel is useful in applications where the unstabilized chromium-nickel steels, such as TP304 stainless steel, would be susceptible to intergranular corrosion.
Application
● In different kinds of nuclear applications
● Petrochemical refinery industries
● Chemical production industries
